Starcut USA Inc. (www.starcut.com), a mobile publishing software provider and mobile services development company, is seeking a Senior Linux systems administrator
and I.T. generalist, to maintain and improve the stability and capacity of several high-profile mobile web sites which are served from our mobile publishing platform.
A quick, flexible mind and highly professional character are important for this position.
We are looking for:
Quick thinker who grasps technical concepts easily.
Responsible & mature person, who does not fear to take control of a problematic situation.
Persevering person who will work with the team until a solution is found to a problem or challenge.
A skilled communicator, both for internal communication and interaction with customer developer-, support- and OPS- teams.
Required capabilities:
* rock-solid understanding of HTTP
* working knowledge of Linux, and fluency with your shell of choice
* working knowledge of DNS
* a facility with some scripting language
* ability to clearly and precisely communicate with anyone about technical concepts, from veteran software developers to non-technical business people
* ability to serve as support back-up for first line support personnel during defined off-hours and week-ends
* leadership skills to manage teams of 3-5 people
Required experience
* experience configuring and administering the following software systems:
Apache, Tomcat, MySQL,
* experience with using, and possibly administering, the following software
systems: subversion, trouble-ticketing systems (Trac, RT, etc.)
* experience with server monitoring and alert systems
We additionally value:
* Exposure to infrastructure as a service, a.k.a. "cloud computing"
* End-user support / help-desk experience
* Significant experience with delivering services for mobile devices
* Java programming knowledge or experience
* Windows desktop troubleshooting skills
The location for this position is at our offices in Tribeca, Manhattan, New York.
This is a full-time position.
